Responsible for pre-finishing doors using paint or stain in accordance with customer specifications and established company quality standards. Adherence to company policies, rules, and regulations in all areas is required, including but not limited to, environmental, health, safety and security. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Carefully inspect doors for defects and irregularities prior to staining or painting.
  • Wear proper protective equipment and follow established safety guidelines as required for staining and painting.
  • Communicate with fellow employees as necessary to monitor and direct workload to ensure smooth operation and proper product flow.
  • Thoroughly remove dust from doors using tack cloth and air gun as necessary prior to staining or painting.
  • Stain or paint doors in accordance with company guidelines and customer specifications.
  • Maintain quality standards in accordance with product manufacturer and company guidelines.
  • Thoroughly inspect all finished products for defects or irregularities and touch-up as necessary.
  • Sign-off and complete appropriate paperwork at the completion of each job.
  • Maintain and monitor shop inventory and request reordering of supplies as necessary.
  • Report inventory discrepancies to Inventory Control Specialist.
  • Notify Shop Foreman of equipment malfunctions.
  • Maintain clean and orderly work area to ensure safety.
  • Perform other incidental and related duties as may be required and assigned.


  •  Technical expertise and knowledge of company products.
  • Familiarity with relevant inventory and manufacturing terminology.
  • Familiarity with door components and assembly techniques.
  • Familiarity with finishing products and techniques.
  • Basic analytical, reasoning, and math abilities.
  • Basic verbal communication skills.

TOOLS USED 'Include but are not limited to: chop saw, table saw, rip saw, hand saw; router, nail gun, screw gun, door machine, various pneumatic tools, and drills

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE ' High School diploma or GED and one to two years' related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS ' Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and memos. Ability to write correspondence; effectively present information in one-on-one or small group situations.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS ' Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to perform these operations using weight measurements, volume, and distance.

OTHER SKILLS/CERTIFICATION ' Might require forklift certification, depending upon branch requirements.

REASONING ABILITY ' Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to understand branch and industry standards in identification, measurement, repairs, replacements, and modification of products.
